To bridge ETH to Polygon, choose ETH, USDT or USDC on Ethereum as “from” and the token you want on Polygon PoS as “to”, review the route and confirm. Both networks use 0x addresses, so funds arrive at the same address. On Polygon, gas is paid in POL, not ETH, and ETH itself arrives as a bridged token (WETH).
Route at a Glance
| Ethereum (source) | Polygon PoS (destination) | |
|---|---|---|
| Gas token | ETH | POL |
| Typical gas | Higher (mainnet) | Fraction of a cent |
| ETH on this network | Native ETH | Bridged ETH (WETH) |
| Address | 0x… | Same 0x… |
Step by Step
- Connect your wallet on Ethereum.
- From: ETH, USDT or USDC on Ethereum. To: USDT, USDC, POL or ETH on Polygon.
- Review the route, fees and amount received.
- Approve and confirm; add Polygon to your wallet if it is not there yet.
Tips
- Take some POL: pick POL as the destination for a small part, so you can pay gas on Polygon right away.
- Mind mainnet gas: the Ethereum side is the expensive part; one larger transfer costs less in fees than several small ones.
- Exchange deposits: if you will deposit to an exchange, check it accepts the token on the Polygon network.
The reverse direction is covered in Polygon bridge; Ethereum fees in ETH gas fees.
